Delta Sports Centre, formerly known as Delta Sport and Recreation Centre, has been operating in the mature residential estate since 1997. Its central location and proximity to the central business district has drawn sport enthusiasts of all ages, beside serving community sporting needs, its FIH certified hockey pitch is patronised by local hockey fraternities and associations, and has hosted various regional and international hockey tournaments.
To continue the promotion of active lifestyle through sports, Huakeong Industries has been engaged as the main contractor to rejuvenate Delta Sports Centre by upgrading the existing indoor sport hall, swimming pool, hockey pitch and addition of a new ActiveSG Gym, sheltered futsal courts, training pool. The full upgrading scope includes:
Demolition and upgrading of training, play and competition pools
Demolition of seating gallery and shifting of existing hockey pitch to accommodate 5 new futsal courts
Construction of new ActiveSG Gym overlooking the swimming pool
Alteration and additions to the Indoor Sports hall: 2 new badminton courts, studios and other sporting facilities
New entrance drop-off with new spine connections linking Tiong Bahru Road to Alexandra Road via the swimming pool and ActiveSG Gym, further leading to the futsal, hockey pitch, and indoor sports hall (complete with new façade and roofing)
The project is expected to take more than a year and will attract more users after completion.
